Be a fountain, not a drain

Many of us have heard that saying, but its meaning and application may be open to individual interpretation. For me, opting to be a fountain means embracing a mindset of empathy, compassion, and selflessness. At it’s core, being a fountain means recognizing that we are not isolated individuals, but interconnected members of a larger community and we have a responsibility to pour into that community, not bleed it dry through our own self-interests.

That mindset of service has always been a fundamental value of Jen Tennill Interiors but sometimes in the day-to-day hustle it’s easy to lose focus. In 2024, I am resetting our intention as a company to be a fountain that nourishes the world with service and generosity, rather than being a drain that depletes it with negativity and selfishness. Additionally, I personally want to zero in on how I can better serve my loved ones, my clients and my community and worry less about what I have to gain from my efforts. By offering my time, skills, and resources to those around me with humility, I hope to uplift others and create a ripple effect of kindness and positive energy that raises us all.

This year I challenge you to find little ways to connect with your fellow humans. Even the smallest acts of service and kindness generate positive energy and the world could use a bit more positivity right now. With all of us doing our small parts we can’t help but make 2024 a great year! We need more fountains! Are you up for the challenge?
