Recharging during busy times

Part of being a creative professional is managing those times when you feel drained and creatively blocked. My team has gotten used to me needing some off-grid time in nature to recharge, reflect and ultimately reengage with our business and clients, so they have learned not to freak out when I can’t be reached for days on end. While it may seem counterintuitive to shut down all but the most essential operations during the busiest time of the year, I have found that the sprint from Labor Day to the New Year (aka our crazy time) isn’t doable without a little “brain break” as my kids call it. So this last week our family took another National Park road trip west for some camping, hiking, turkey frying and a run-in with a hungry pack of javelina who wanted our pies. But javelina mishaps aside, we experienced some of the most awe-inspiring scenery and pure wild nature we have ever seen. It’s those times of quiet reflection in the outdoors that recharge my soul and give me the energy to come back and be the best designer, mom, partner and boss to those who depend on me. Happy belated Thanksgiving to all of you and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to serve you all in whatever capacity I am able. I wish you many blessings (as well as a little recharge time of your own) during the holiday season.
